The George Eliot Hospital Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) team surprised a very special member of their team as she celebrated a very special birthday.
Sister Suet Wong, was joined by colleagues as she celebrated her 70th birthday and an extraordinary 50 years of being a nurse, starting as a student in 1974.
Over the last five decades Sister Wong has worked at George Eliot Hospital providing exceptional care to multiple
generations, even caring for sick and premature babies who then go on to have babies under her care.
A well-loved, respected and cherished member of the team she is also hugely important figure in the community on Nuneaton and Bedworth that she cares for.
We all wish a huge congratulations to Sister Wong, and the team celebrated in style with a party in the maternity unit in her honour, with a life-size balloon model of her provided by a very talented member of our security team and food funded by the George Eliot Hospital Charity.
During the celebrations she was also presented with a Cavell Star Award, in recognition of her ongoing commitment to caring for patients, parents and the community.
