‘Positive, proud and valued’ - celebrating the two-year anniversary of Pathway to Excellence designation

The Event was held to mark the two-year anniversary of UHCW becoming the first university hospital in the UK to be awarded the internationally acclaimed Pathway to Excellence® designation.

Colleagues from across the Nursing, Midwifery and AHP professions gathered to celebrate and were joined by guest speakers including:

  • Gerarda Bruce, Registered Midwife & Laby Sibu, Theatre Manager (Fostering Leadership Growth and Capability through Professional Development)
  • Claire Betts, Ward Manager & Natalie Earp, Clinical Sister – Cedar Ward (Driving Improvements in Quality and Patient Safety through the World Class Wards and Departments Accreditation Framework)
  • Michelle Hartanto, Practice Facilitator for Pathway to Excellence®, Albiona Zhupaj, Internationally Educated Staff Council, Jayna Mistry, Anti-Racism Council & Subie Scholz, Research Council (Shared Decision Making as a Vehicle to Enhance Wellbeing)

The event was closed by a special award ceremony, which saw teams recognised for their outstanding contributions and culminated in the prestigious DAISY Team Award.

This years’ award was presented to staff from Cedar Ward who were nominated by a patient for the incredible care they received throughout their hospital stay, helping them to feel safe and supported during their recovery.

Tracey said:

“Seeing all of our colleagues come together to celebrate the two-year anniversary of our Pathway to Excellence designation was a brilliant occasion.

“It was a pleasure to see colleagues from all of our NMAHP groups attend and give talks on their areas of expertise.”

At the end of the event, Tracey asked the room ‘If you could sum up this afternoon in one word, what would it be?’

Various colleagues in the audience shared their views, saying the event made them feel ‘positive’, ‘proud’, ‘valued’ and ‘uplifted’.
