Paige runs up the miles to raise funds boosting staff and patients in our Emergency Department

Keen runner Paige Pollard has gone the  extra mile – well, more than 13 miles to be  precise – to raise funds for our Emergency  Department. 

Paige, an Apprentice Student Nurse Associate, completed the Rugby Half Marathon in 3hrs 16mins in aid of UHCW Charity. She was motivated to take part after her fitness declined when she was diagnosed with asthma.

“I used to love running but recently I struggled to run 2km without stopping,” said Paige, who has worked in ED for nearly five years. “Doing the half marathon gave me a goal to work towards and the incentive to get back out exercising. “The route was quite hilly so it was tougher than I expected, but the training paid off and I was glad to finish.”

Paige raised more than £650 in total, boosted by monthly bake sales. The money will be used to boost staff and patients over the busy Winter months.
