A huge congratulations to Registered Nurse Sarah Quinn, who has become our latest DAISY Award honouree.
DAISY Awards, funded and supported by UHCW Charity, recognise the inspiring work of our nurses and midwives.
Sarah, who works in our Paediatric Outreach Team, was nominated by the mother of a child in her care who recognised her kindness, compassion and empathy.
Her nomination read:
"Sarah showed us exceptional care whilst my son, Tommy, was admitted to HDU. Sarah's specialist knowledge shines from her and she gave her time to ensure I understood the rationale for decisions about Tommy's treatment plan.
"Sarah is creative and dynamic in her approach, ensuring Tommy's care was delivered in a way that met both clinical need and to reduce his distress.
She saw us for who we are - real people with real needs, and ensured our experience was as personalised as possible. She took time out of her day to come and find us once we had moved out of HDU, to ensure we were OK and answer any questions we might have.
During all my contact with Sarah, I felt that Tommy was in safe hands and that she had his best interests at the centre of her decisions, as well as holding space for me - his very worried and frightened mum.
I cannot express enough thanks to Sarah for helping to make a difficult time more bearable."
Well done Sarah!
