Compassionate care for patient who suffered anxiety attack earns Mollie McLeod a DAISY Award

Visiting hospital can be a nervous time, but that’s when colleagues like Mollie McLeod come into their own.

Mollie, a Registered Nurse in our Medical Assessment Unit, is our latest DAISY Award honouree.

The awards, funded by UHCW Charity, celebrate the skilful and dedicated care our nurses and midwives provide on a daily basis.

Mollie was nominated by a patient who came in with high blood pressure and suffered an anxiety attack.

Her nomination read: “Mollie sat and consoled me. She showed dignity and respect and considered my mental health, comforted me immensely and made me feel better just by her approach.

“Her body language was completely genuine and I could tell she honestly cared. She listened and made me relax.

“I was seated back in the waiting area and after a while she could see I was anxious again.

“She took me into a room and took my observations again. My blood pressure had risen and she got the doctors straight away.

“I wondered how she knew I was feeling anxious again. It's because she is an amazing, genuinely one of the nicest nurses I've had the privilege to be cared for by.”
