Scarlett Sutch

Scarlett Sutch, Nursing Associate at the Hospital of St Cross Rugby, started her career at UHCW in 2016.

Scarlett said: “Originally, when I left school, I thought I would train to become a midwife. I was a Nursery Nurse for a few years, but decided I still wanted to pursue a career in the NHS.”

Scarlett took the leap of faith to become an Apprentice Healthcare Assistant in 2016 and trained on Oak Ward in Rugby.

Scarlett said: “They will always say it wasn’t them – but my team made the whole experience enjoyable and supported me every step of the way. I’ve always been one to enjoy learning while I’m working so an apprenticeship was perfect for me. ⠀⠀

I worked as a Healthcare Assistant at Rugby St Cross, then in 2018 I was able to begin a 2-year course with UHCW and Coventry University to become a Nursing Associate

After completing this, I worked as a Registered Nursing Associate on Cedar Ward at Rugby St Cross. After 1 year, I then had the opportunity to complete a 2-year apprenticeship ‘step on programme’ to gain my qualification to become a Registered Adult Nurse. I am currently working as a Nursing Associate, whilst attending placements at UHCW and Birmingham City University. I am thoroughly enjoying the step-on programme, gaining lots of new skills and knowledge and gaining experience in different areas.”
