Health and Social Care: Supporting Our Communities Together
Over recent years, we are seeing people work in roles that cover both health and socialcare with colleagues having very similar qualities and values focused on improving health and wellbeing. In Coventry and Warwickshire, we are working on lots of projects to bring together these roles, bringing more variety and richness to working lives. This includes enhancing the competencies of care home staff so that they can support our clinical teams. These are coming together in what is know as Neighbourhood Health Teams.
We are also developing ways in which we can safely delegate tasks from registered healthcare workers to non-registered care workers. This has been successfully undertaken in Warwickshire where a number of care workers have been trained to administer insulin, improving the lives of both residents and care workers.
Regulated social workers
Regulated social workers within Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care System (ICS) are qualified professionals registered with Social Work England who meet national standards for practice, ethics, and ongoing professional development.
They work across a range of settings including local authority teams (Coventry City Council and Warwickshire County Council), NHS services (such as hospitals, community health and mental health teams), primary care networks, and voluntary or community organisations. Their role involves safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, supporting individuals with complex health and social care needs, and coordinating integrated care alongside NHS and partner agencies.
Regulation ensures they are accountable for delivering safe, high quality care, maintaining professional competence, and promoting the wellbeing of local populations in line with statutory and professional requirements.
