Asthma Accreditation Funding

Friendly Setting accreditation is available to all schools within Coventry and Warwickshire area who are keen to demonstrate their commitment to developing and raising awareness of Asthma and its management to help our children and young people to manage their health effectively and give them a chance at healthier adult life.

Important Funding has been secured to support a programme aimed at increasing training for adults who support children and young people in Coventry and Warwickshire in development worker roles supporting primary schools in agreed priority areas to achieve ‘asthma friendly accreditation’. Development workers will ensure schools complete and achieve the standard.

Appointed Development Workers will also work creatively to support providers delivering services in this age range to become accredited such as uniformed services, PTA groups, HAF providers and youth provision working with school aged children predominantly aged 5+ e.g faith groups. Role holders will be ambassadors for good asthma health amongst school age children 5+ and support messaging and promotion. The appointed Development Workers are expected to come together and share updates and good practice quarterly.

Grant Specification

Funding is for 3 development workers to be hosted by VCFSE Organisations the posts will cover:-

• South and Rugby

• North – Nuneaton, Bedworth and North Warwickshire

• Coventry

 

• Funding will be for 12 months from recruitment; capacity may be redeployed from existing workforce as long as a plan for meeting delivery requirements can be fulfilled. Applicants may also wish to explore Term time only or flexible working patterns to extend the funding for the role past 12 months.

• The roles will work with primary schools in agreed priority areas to support primary schools to achieve “Asthma friendly accreditation” providing support to complete and achieve the standard

Monitoring & Reporting

It is expected that reach will be as follows:

50% of schools in North Warks

50% of schools in South warks & rugby

50% of schools in Coventry

In areas that fall within the Core 20 it's expected that 75% schools achieve accreditation.
