Menopause
Menopause happens 12 months after your last period. This usually takes place between the ages of 45 – 55yrs. The average age for menopause is 51 years but some women can go into early menopause due to an illness or medical treatment.
The period before menopause is called perimenopause and some women can have severe symptoms, which could include hot flushes, memory loss, itching, dry skin and loss of libido to name a few.
If you are feeling worried about your symptoms please contact your GP who may be able to support you or refer you to a service that can assist you.
Menopause in the workplace
Employers are now required to support women who may have menopause symptoms by making reasonable adjustments. Speak to your manager if you are concerned that your symptoms may be affecting your ability to perform at work.
