Planning for Pregnancy - #AreYouReady Campaign

Are you planning a pregnancy? Or do you work with people who may need information, advice and support to boost their chance of conceiving?

The NHS in Coventry and Warwickshire has teamed up with Tommy’s, a national baby charity, to raise awareness of the things people need to know before pregnancy. The #AreYouReady campaign aims to raise educate and inform women and birthing people of the importance of looking after themselves and making behaviour changes before pregnancy.

Planning a pregnancy gives you the best possible chance of conceiving, improves pregnancy health and improves the baby’s future health too.

There are a number of things that people can do prior to conception, including:

  • Taking folic acid at least two months before pregnancy
  • Quitting smoking
  • Avoiding alcohol
  • Aiming for a healthy weight by eating healthily and staying active
  • Speaking to a GP about how medication for a mental or physical condition may affect you
  • Taking a daily Vitamin D tablet
