Positive Directions
West Midlands Trauma Vanguard for Coventry and Warwickshire
In August 2021, Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) was awarded vanguard status for the West Midlands via the NHS England Improvement Framework for Integrated Care.
What is vanguard status?
The vanguard programme empowers and supports local partnerships, which could include NHS organisations, local authorities, and the voluntary and community sector, to work together to rapidly implement innovative service change.
Vanguards take the lead on developing new ways of working which will act as the blueprints for the NHS moving forward, and the inspiration to the rest of the health and care system.
What does this mean for us?
In Coventry and Warwickshire our vanguard project, Positive Directions, is a new and innovative approach to tackling the physical, mental, and social challenges faced by children and young people who have experienced significant trauma.
Positive Directions provides support for local children and young people with a range of complex needs, including some of the most vulnerable, who have been subjected to child exploitation and other significant trauma.
We have worked closely with children and young people to shape the development and focus of the project, listening to what they need to support them, and designing services around these needs.
Please find below more details regarding the different focus areas of the project.
