Our current focus
A Concordat Delivery Group has been established with members from NHS, Local Authorities and Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise organisations across Coventry and Warwickshire. We also work with many partners and people with lived experience.
The Delivery Group have agreed several key priorities for 2025-2026. These include several recommendations outlined in the West Midlands Mental Health Commission Report (published in 2023).
The key activities for 2025 include:
- Explore ways to increase access to, and take up of, evidence-based parenting programmes (e.g., using the i-Thrive framework)
- Develop our system approach to social value, including the Social Value Charter and Social Value in procurement
- Support and invest in community-led infrastructure to deliver safe and effective mental health support for people from radicalised communities. In order to do this, the support needs to be shaped by the voices of those from marginalised communities and those with mental health issues and lived experience
- Ensure that mental health services provide access to physical activity opportunities and encourages the building of treatment pathways for anyone waiting to receive treatment
- Reduce the barriers that prevent people from engaging in physical activity
- Develop a Community Connectors (peer support) service to support people with severe mental illness to access healthy lifestyle programmes, including smoking cessation
- Develop an approach that puts a greater focus on, and embeds, mental health within Health in All Policies. This also links to our work on Prioritising prevention and wider determinants to protect the health and wellbeing of people and communities
- Work with housing associations to raise awareness of, and contribute to, the conditions for better mental health and wellbeing
- Develop a system-wide mental health and wellbeing Communications Plan
- Develop mental health and wellbeing support specifically focused on young, black men
- Develop links with Fire and Rescue Services to enhance the prevention offer and maximise mental health and wellbeing support offered to communities
- Develop measures of success and how we will evaluate the delivery of our priorities
