Case studies – how are we making a difference?

Through the Health Inequalities Innovation Fund we have set up a number of projects tackling healthcare inequalities, aligned to the Core20+5 priorities. As these projects progress, we will share case studies to demonstrate the impact that is being achieved.

Health Access for Refugees Project (HARP) – This Coventry based project is working with community connectors to tackle health inequalities and barriers to health for refugee and asylum seekers.

Health Justice Partnership – This project, initially in Coventry and planning to expand to Nuneaton & Bedworth, creates a partnership between GP practices and specialist welfare rights providers, supporting people whose health is impacted due to welfare rights issues such as housing and low income.

Community Diagnostics Centres Research – A project carried out in partnership with Coventry University, exploring barriers to access and inequalities in experience for the Community Diagnostics Centres.

Sowe Valley Diabetes project – This project takes a personalised approach to supporting young people with type 2 diabetes.

Vaccinator midwife – Employing a dedicated midwife to work in George Eliot Hospital and in the community to increase take-up of vaccinations for pregnant women.
