Where to go for health advice and treatment

There is a lot you can do to keep fit and healthy – both mentally and physically. And if you have a long-term condition, managing your symptoms and medication as well as eating well and moving more can help you live happily and healthily.

Sometimes we all need medical advice and support. There are a range of NHS services in Coventry and Warwickshire to give you this.

Your community pharmacy team can help you treat many winter illnesses, like colds, sore throats and coughs. They can help you choose the medications you need to ease their symptoms. Pharmacies are also often open evenings and weekends and many have consultation rooms where you can discuss your health concerns in private.

NHS 111 is for when you need urgent, same day care and you are not sure what to do. You can access NHS 111 online or by telephone:

Specially-trained advisors will ask you questions about your condition and direct you to the right healthcare service. This could be a community pharmacist, nurse, GP or emergency dentist. If needed they can also book face-to-face appointments.

Contact your General Practice (GP) team about symptoms that aren’t going away. They can offer telephone, online, or face-to-face appointments with a GP, nurse or other healthcare professional, depending on what your health concern is.
