Coventry & WARWICKSHIRE Lung CANCER SCREENING
We are now working in all areas of Coventry and Warwickshire, although access to this service is still dependant on your GP practice signing up and the planned rollout of scanning provision.
When the programme commenced in each area:
Coventry & Rugby – Summer 2021
Warwickshire Noth – Summer 2024
Warwickshire South – Spring 2026 (with full service provision envisioned by 2028)
Our Lung Cancer Screenings are like an MOT for your lungs - and like any part of your body, they need regular engine checks.
If you are aged between 55-74 and smoke, or have ever smoked, you may be invited for a free NHS Lung Cancer Screening.
These will take place over the phone with a specialist health care advisor.
Most people will find out their lungs work fine, some may benefit from further screenings or treatment such as a CT scan at our mobile unit.
Finding any lung problems early can make a big difference.
When will I be invited and what is a Lung Cancer Screening?
If you qualify for a FREE NHS Lung Cancer Screening, you will receive an invite letter through the post.
This letter will invite you to a telephone screening have a date and time and will take place over the phone (15 mins) with a specialised health care advisor.
During the telephone call you will be asked questions about your overall lung health, lifestyle, family and medical history.
You may then be invited to have a lung CT scan at our special mobile unit. This checks for early signs of lung cancer and is called lung cancer screening.
