Urgent and Emergency Care

We are working across Coventry and Warwickshire to enhance patient care through improved services and better access to urgent and emergency care.

This work will complement the other Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care System work programmes which aim to reduce unscheduled care in our local health and care system. We will provide safe, effective urgent care for people in Coventry and Warwickshire.

What do we want to do?

Reduce waiting times and meet the 95% performance target for patients to be seen at A&E within four hours across Coventry and Warwickshire.

Ensure that patients are discharged from hospital as soon as they are medically fit where possible.

Coordination across hospitals and providers to implement best practice, improve efficiencies, reduce duplication and streamline clinical routes to treatment.

Strengthen planning and monitoring of urgent and emergency care services to improve patient outcomes.

What have we done so far?

We are focusing on the following areas:

  • NHS111
  • Ambulance response times and handovers
  • Hospitals – improving patient flow and developing an ambulatory emergency care service and an acute frailty service
  • Designated urgent treatment centres
  • Mental health and urgent and emergency care
  • Urgent and emergency care technology
