Tackling immediate system pressures & improving resilience
Over the past decade, the pressure that health and care services experience has only increased in severity. The Covid pandemic, the increased demand for healthcare services, and an ageing population have all contributed to this increase in pressure.
As an ICS, as well as focusing on our clear ambitions for the future, we also recognise that there are immediate pressures that we need to tackle. System partners need to work together both to reduce immediate demand on services and to secure the system capacity required to meet the current and future health and care needs of our population – which include both physical and mental health care, and social care needs.
There are two key areas which we need to focus on in order to improve resilience and tackle system pressures. These are:
- Supporting people at home
- Developing and investing in our workforce, culture and clinical and professional leadership
The case studies below are examples of how we are delivering on both the overall strategic priority and the individual areas of focus. Please click on a case study to find out more.
