VOLUNTARY ACTION COVENTRY 'CHAT CENTRAL'

Voluntary Action Coventry (VAC)’s ‘Chat Central’ project works with adults, living in Coventry who are feeling lonely or isolated. The project aims to help them make friendships and connections, build confidence in their own ability and to engage in new opportunities that fill their lives positively. It does this through engaging them in a variety of different activities in the community as a group.

Participants join Chat Central for a wide variety of reasons such as being bereaved, retired, dealing with an illness or condition that limits their ability to get out, recently arrived in the city or just out of practice with socialising.  We welcome many people who are neurodiverse, who may have a learning or physical disability or persistent poor health. 

We offer a varied schedule each month, with different activities taking place in regular timeslots across the week, as well as one-off events including evening and weekend activities. We endeavour to listen and respond to suggestions from participants regarding things they would like to try, times that work for them and any factors preventing them from engaging.

For June, we have all the below FREE events:

• Wednesday 4th June 1pm - 2.30pm : Chat Central, Coventry History Group 'Elephants of Coventry' with Scott Duffin at Trinity House, Old Blue Coat School, 5a Priory Row, Coventry CV1 5EX
• Friday 6th June 10.30am - 12.30pm: Group volunteering at Crow Recycling, Community Gardening, Sparkbrook Street, Coventry CV1 5EX
• Saturday 7th June 10am - 12pm: Visit to The Weaver's House at Upper Spon Street, Coventry CV1 3BQ
• Thursday 12th June 6pm - 8pm: Canoeing with Mercia Canoe Club: Meet at the steps to Coventry Canal Basin, CV1 4LY. LIMITED SPACES, BOOKING ESSENTIAL: chatcentral@VACoventry.org.uk or call 07541 343491.
• Wednesday 11th June 12pm - 1.30pm: Visit to Art Exhibition at Priory Visitors Centre (PVC), Litten Tree Building, 6 Priory Row, Coventry CV1 5EX
• Tuesday 17th June 2pm - 3pm: Pool at Riley's Sports Bar, Butts Road, Coventry CV1 3JZ
• Wednesday 18th June 2.30pm - 4pm: Motivational workshop with Fran Egan at United Reformed Church, Warwick Road, Coventry CV1 5EX
• Wednesday 25th June 1pm - 2.30pm: Tai Chi with Carol at Anglican Chapel, London Road Cemetry, London Road, Coventry CV1 2JT
• Thursday 26th June 10am - 11.30am: Litter pick.  Meet at the steps to Coventry Canal Basin, CV1 4LY
