STAYING WELL OVER WINTER - COOKING CLASS AIDING HEALTH
27 February 2026
The VCFSE Collaborative for Coventry & Warwickshire programme team have been out and about meeting up with the grant recipients of the winter funding grants from the Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board. A series of creative projects have been devised to help keep people well and reduce unnecessary hospital visits over winter.
In this first story, the team caught up with Vivien Kajoro, Centre Manager, for The Benn Partnership Centre. The charity are delivering a twelve week programme aimed at supporting people with breathing difficulties and reducing winter health pressures on the health and care system. The project is delivering Tai-Chi, walking groups, cooking classes, and mindfulness art sessions, alongside digital training to help participants access NHS apps. Targetting specific communities, the programme focuses on prevention, improving resilience, and tackling health inequalities.
On the day of the visit, the cookery class was in full swing. You can watch a short video via the link below in which Vivien shares how table-top cookery sessions are successfully delivered in a multi-use space within the centre, inspiring and sustaining high levels of engagement and enthusiasm amongst participants with a range of health needs.
