ROVING VACCINATION TEAM ENSURE HOUSEBOUND PATIENTS RECEIVE COVID JAB

The vaccination roving team of our partner Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Partnership Trust (CWPT) have been out vaccinating the vulnerable and elderly housebound residents in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

CWPT’s roving vaccination team are supporting the local Primary Care Networks (PCNs) to deliver the COVID-19 vaccination to residents who are unable to visit their GP or local vaccination centre to ensure they receive the COVID-19 vaccination to protect them against the virus.

On Monday the team achieved the government target and offered the jab to everyone within the first four priority groups including those who are housebound.

The roving team have visited and vaccinated more than 1,100 housebound people across Coventry and Warwickshire and are now seeing the final people withing these groups who were previously unable to be contacted.

CWPT immunisation nurse Suzanne Coleman said: “It is extremely rewarding and humbling being able to visit residents who are housebound and administer the vaccine in their homes. It gives them the reassurance the vaccine will help protect them from the virus particularly as they are vulnerable and could become very poorly if they have the virus.

“We hope it gives them and their families and carers peace of mind that they have had their first dose and it will offer them protection for the future.”

Anyone who is housebound will be contacted to book an appointment.
