PRIVATE SECTOR COLLABORATION SUPPORTS COVID CANCER CARE

A private hospital is joining forces with our NHS trust partners in Coventry and Warwickshire to treat cancer patients during the COVID-19 crisis.

As part of a national collaboration between the NHS and the independent healthcare sector, Nuffield Health Warwickshire Hospital, near Leamington Spa, has partnered with University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW), South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust (SWFT) and the George Eliot Hospital.

The move means the Nuffield hospital will help maintain the vital provision of NHS breast cancer services as well as gynaecology and plastic surgery services.

Pamela Smith, Matron at Nuffield Health Warwickshire Hospital said “I am incredibly proud of the team and how hard everyone is working in order to ensure services are delivered to those who are most in need at this time.”

Tim Shewbridge Hospital Director at Nuffield Health Warwickshire Hospital, said: “We are pleased to offer our support to NHS patients and to the teams at our local trusts at this challenging time.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has stretched our country, and the effort, dedication and commitment of NHS staff is truly humbling. The whole team has been fantastic, and I am very proud of what they have all done so far, and for what they will be doing over the coming weeks.”

A spokesman for UHCW said: “This is a temporary arrangement and we will be contacting all affected patients directly.”
