PATIENTS RANK COVENTRY AND WARWICKSHIRE GP PRACTICES AMONGST THE TOP 4 IN ENGLAND

GP practices in Coventry and Warwickshire have, once again, performed excellently in key areas in this year’s GP Patient Survey results, reflecting their hard work and dedication to providing and improving services across the area.

The results of the 2026 GP Patient Survey were released last week and showed that residents in Coventry and Warwickshire had a more positive experience of their GP practice than other parts of the country, ranking 4th in England and improving on their 6th place ranking in last year’s results.

The survey, which was conducted by Ipsos MORI, took place between 1 January 2026 and 13 April 2026.

Coventry and Warwickshire achieved their 4th placed ranking after 81% of patients surveyed said their overall experience of their GP practice was good or very good, which is above the national average of 77%.

Other key takeaways from the survey included:
100% of GP practices across Coventry and Warwickshire offer online services through the NHS App with 46% of patients ordering online prescriptions, up from 43% in last year’s survey.

  • 62% said they found it easy to use their practice website, up from 55% last year and above the national average of 58%.
  • 60% found it easy to contact their GP practice using the NHS app, up from 58% last year and above the national average of 54%
  • 88% reported that receptionists and administrative staff were helpful, up from 86% last year and above the national average of 85%.
  • 64% felt that it was easy to get through to someone on the phone, up from 60% last year and above the national average of 57%.
  • 92% of patients say they were happy with their level of involvement with decisions made about their care, in line with the national average.
  • 88% felt the person they saw listened to them, compared to a national average of 87%.
  • 87% felt they were treated with care and concern, compared to a national average of 86%.

Coventry and Warwickshire is also home to one of the two practices in the country to achieve a 100% score in overall experience, Budbrooke Medical Centre in Warwick. They achieved the perfect score after every patient who returned the survey described their experience of the practice as good. This, along with extremely strong results in other areas, demonstrates the excellent work done by the practice and their commitment to delivering the best possible services to patients.

There were also positive results for other areas of primary care. For dental access 90% of people said they were able to get an NHS dental appointment, up from 89% and above the national average of 81%. Whereas 91% reported positive experiences of using pharmacy services, up from 89% last year and above the national average of 89%. Dr Will Taylor, Chief Medical Officer at NHS Coventry and Warwickshire ICB, said:

“This is yet again, another set of encouraging results for Coventry and Worcestershire practices, who continue to work to improve access to GP services for their local communities.

“Our practices continue to make improvements including by introducing better telephone and online systems, as well as enabling better access to features of the NHS App to allow ordering repeat prescriptions, accessing medical records and receiving messages about their care and treatment.

“There is always improvement to be made to ensure people have access to the care they need when they need it, in a way that works for them, but we are really pleased to see the improvements our practices have made over the last year.”

[Spokesperson from Budbrooke Medical Centre], said:

“We’re delighted to be one of the two practices in the country to score 100% in overall patient experience. Feedback from our patients is extremely important to us and we’re delighted to hear they are having such a positive experience when accessing our services.

“Our GP Patient Survey result is a testament to the hard work and dedication of all of our staff who are committed to providing the best possible care to our patients. I’d like to thank everyone who completed the survey, as well as our exceptional staff for all the work they do.”
