NHS Coventry and Warwickshire ICB have announced the appointment of Steve Rimell as a Non-Executive Member following the departure of Sue Noyes.

Steve brings a breadth of experience to the ICB. His career spans both the private and public sectors, having worked in both banking & energy as well as in education, giving him vital experience of operating in highly regulated sectors. His most recent role was Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Chief Finance Officer at Birmingham City University.

In addition, Steve has experience operating as both and Executive and a Non-Executive Director and has spent a large part of his career leading operations and organisational transformation, not least in the banking sector following the global financial crisis and in the University sector during and after the covid pandemic.

Steve replaces Sue Noyes, who joined University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire as Chair at the beginning of this year.

The ICB are currently interviewing for another Non-Executive Member after Bill Butler announced he will also be leaving the ICB after accepting a position as Chair of Public Sector Audit Appointments Ltd - the organisation that appoints external auditors for the majority of Local Authorities in England.

Steve Rimell, newly appointed Non-Executive Member of NHS Coventry and Warwickshire ICB, said:

“I am delighted to have joined Coventry and Warwickshire ICB as a Non-Executive Member. As someone who lives locally, I know first-hand how important access to high quality health and care services are to our local communities and I am determined to play my part in delivering them.

“We know there are a number of challenges facing the health system currently. However, I am confident that there is the willingness and resolve, both in the ICB and throughout system partners in Coventry and Warwickshire, to work together to meet these head on. I look forward to putting my shoulder to the collective wheel and adding whatever value I can.”

Danielle Oum, Chair of NHS Coventry and Warwickshire ICB, said:

“On behalf of everyone at Coventry and Warwickshire ICB, I would like to warmly welcome Steve to his new role as Non-Executive Member.

“Steve brings a wealth of experience to the ICB, including as a Non-Executive Director, and I look forward to working together to deliver the best possible health and care services for the people of Coventry and Warwickshire. In particular, I believe his experience working at and with local universities will offer exciting opportunities to find new and innovative ways we can collaborate with the education sector.”
