NHS CALLING ON ALL RESIDENTS COVENTRY & WARWICKSHIRE OVER 70 TO BOOK THEIR COVID-19 VACCINE
12 February 2021
According to official figures released last week over 80% of people aged over 70 in Coventry and Warwickshire have received their coronavirus vaccination.
But the NHS is not resting on their laurels and are asking anyone who is aged 70 and over who hasn’t had their first vaccine yet to get in touch.
Until now the NHS has asked people to wait until they are contacted to help ensure that those who are most vulnerable are protected first - and that remains the case for most people.
However, to ensure absolutely everyone is offered the vaccine, people aged 70 and over can now contact the NHS so they can be vaccinated by the middle of this month.
All patients who are aged 70 and over and who haven’t already had their first vaccine can arrange a vaccination through the national booking service which can be accessed at www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination or call 119 between 7am and 11pm or they can contact their GP Practice.
Dr Sarah Raistrick, Chair and GP at NHS Warwickshire North and NHS Coventry and Rugby ICBs said: “We have made progress in the delivery of the covid vaccine to the first priority groups across Coventry and Warwickshire. But if you are aged 70 and over, and haven’t yet received your vaccine, please come forward and make an appointment as soon as you can.
“It is really important everyone has their covid vaccine when asked to, not only will it help protect you, it will help protect your loved ones and the local community.”
Health leaders are concerned that some people have not accepted their vaccination because they believe it’s one of a number of fraudulent and scam emails and texts that have been in circulation. The simple thing to remember is that NHS will never ask for bank details. Read more about covid vaccine scams in circulation, what you should look out for and where to report them.
