New scheme points the way to healthier lifestyles for North Warwickshire communities

An innovative new pilot is set to point the way to healthier lifestyles for residents across North Warwickshire. The scheme, funded by Warwickshire North Integrated Care Board (ICB) and delivered by Warwickshire County Council (WCC) Public Health, will see signposts containing information leaflets placed in GP practices.

Rachel Robinson (Associate Director of Public Health), Cllr Les Caborn and Lynn Slater, Practice Manager at Manor Court SurgeryThe signposts will include information about various aspects of wellbeing including mental health, physical activity services, vaccination information and where to go for help with housing/finances. Seasonal themes will change regularly, and there will also be monthly information about local events and initiatives. The practice receptionists have been trained to start conversations with patients to see how they could benefit from the advice and services on offer.

Cllr Les Caborn, WCC Portfolio Holder for Adult Social Care and Health said:

“We are committed to working with our health partners to keep our communities safe, healthy and independent. By making the best range of information available, as well as working with residents to find the right services and advice for their needs, we can help people to live in better health for longer in their communities.”

Lynn Slater, Practice Manager at Manor Court Surgery added:

“We believe the signposting in an excellent addition to the services we already provide, as our trained signposter can work with the clinical team to enhance the patient’s journey and knowledge in one place. We have also found that patients ask questions to the reception team without seeing a clinician, particularly around social issues as a direct result of the information on display.”
