NEW COVID-19 TESTING SITE OPENED TODAY IN COVENTRY

A new coronavirus testing site has opened in Coventry city centre today.

The walk-in site on Whitefriars car park on Whitefriars Lane has now opened to pre-booked appointments.

It is the fourth Covid-19 test site to open in Coventry and is the second testing centre that offers appointments for people arriving by foot, alongside the site on Broad Street in Foleshill.

The two other sites on Moat Street car park and the regional hub at the Ricoh Arena are drive-through only.

Liz Gaulton, Director of Public Health and Wellbeing at Coventry City Council, said: “Having another walk-in test site will be a huge benefit to the city, allowing more Coventry residents to get a test when they need to.

“Getting a test is not just for your own peace of mind but for the safety of those around you. Test results will allow you to see whether you need to self-isolate or can safely return to normal.

“I can’t stress the importance of self-isolating if you are told to do so. This is how we will reduce the spread of coronavirus and keep each other safe.”
