LAST CHANCE TO HAVE YOUR SAY ON COMMUNITY REHABILITATION BEDS IN SOUTH WARWICKSHIRE

South Warwickshire residents have just 3 more days to have their say on the future locations of 35 community rehabilitation beds in South Warwickshire.

The public are being asked for their views as part of a public consultation that is being run by NHS Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board (ICB), which aims to understand the impacts of two viable options for the distribution of the rehabilitation beds.

In South Warwickshire, there are 35 community rehabilitation beds that are used by roughly 550 people per year. These beds provide rehabilitation support to patients who are ready to leave an acute hospital but aren’t quite ready to go home.

The ICB are now trying to decide where these beds should be located moving forwards. Following a process that assessed various options against whether they met patient needs, aligned with NHS goals and priorities, and were affordable and sustainable, two final options have been agreed as being viable. They are:

  • Option A – Distribute all 35 beds across three sites: Ellen Badger Hospital, Leamington Spa Hospital, and Stratford Hospital.

This would reduce the number of beds currently at Stratford Hospital and Leamington Spa Hospital and return up to 12 beds to the Ellen Badger Site.

  • Option B – Two sites: Provide all 35 beds at two sites, Leamington Spa Hospital and Stratford Hospital.

The wards would remain the same current size at Leamington Spa Hospital and Stratford Hospital and there would no longer be any beds at the Ellen Badger site

The consultation process began on Monday 6th January and closes on Friday 14th February. The ICB are looking for current and former patients, staff, stakeholders, local residents, and interested organisations to share their views on the impact of both of these options.

There are a variety of ways people can participate in the consultation, including via a survey and via written submission.

The ICB have created a dedicated section on their website with all the information regarding the public consultation, including the consultation document, details on how to participate in the consultation, and a list of frequently asked questions. This can be found at www.happyhealthylives.uk/consultation.
