IT'S AUTISM ACCEPTANCE MONTH!
7 April 2025
Organised by UK charity The National Autistic Society, World Autism Acceptance Month is an opportunity to highlight the importance of understanding more about autism and to inspire others to take steps to build kinder, more inclusive communities.
In the UK, there are around 700,000 autistic adults and children. This lifelong neurodevelopmental condition affects how a person communicates with and relates to other people, and the world around them. Being autistic means your brain works in a different way to other people's and although there are common characteristics, each person's experience of autism is different.
Throughout the month, numerous resources will be shared on social media including some of the following below:
- Missed the webinars during Neurodiversity Celebration Week? Watch the recordings now.
- Watch the useful CWPT Autism post-diagnosis videos for adults and children and young people.
- Take a look at reasonable adjustments autistic people can request.
- See what support the local Community Autism Support Service can offer.
- Download the one page profiles for professionals and autistic people to help each other understand one another
- Have a read of the National Autistic Society Guide to supporting autistic colleagues at work.
- Take a look at the Information for Neurodivergent People and their Families e-booklet.
- Use the Dimensions of Health and Wellbeing Tool to see a personalised profile and information to support people of all ages in Coventry and Warwickshire.
