INDUSTRIAL ACTION TO CAUSE DISRUPTION IN JANUARY
2 January 2024
Junior Doctors will start their latest period of industrial action from Wednesday 3rd January, beginning at 7am and continuing until 7am on Tuesday 9th January.
The upcoming strike action comes after Junior Doctors took similar action from 7am on Wednesday 20th December until 7am on Saturday 23rd December. Coming at what is one of the busiest times for the health service, strike action is once again going to bring significant challenges to the NHS in Coventry and Warwickshire. It is therefore extremely important that people choose which NHS services they access wisely to ensure capacity is there for those who need it most.
Our advice to the public remains that:
- You should continue to come forward if you need urgent medical care, especially in emergency and life-threatening cases – when someone is seriously ill or injured, or their life is at risk.
- Think 111 first, either online or over the phone, for non-life-threatening medical emergencies and they will direct you to the most appropriate service. Only use 999 if it is a life-threatening emergency.
- If we have not contacted you, please attend your appointment as planned. The NHS will contact you if your appointment needs to be rescheduled due to strike action.
- Please be understanding with health and care staff even if you face delays in receiving care. The pressure we are experiencing is challenging for staff and everyone is doing their best to ensure that patients with the most urgent need can access the appropriate care.
