GETTING YOUR COVID VACCINATION

Local NHS and public health leaders are reminding everyone aged 18 and over where they can get their Covid vaccinations in the run up to 19th July.
Dr Sarah Raistrick, local GP and Chair of Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board said: “We know everyone wants to get back to normal as soon as possible, but in order to ‘live with Covid’ we need everyone to be as well protected as possible to reduce the risk of further lockdowns in the future.
“As festivals and sports all start to happen again and as nightclubs and music venues re-open, we will all be mingling closer and more often. No one is immune to Covid, but the research shows that the symptoms are less serious when you’ve been double-jabbed and you are far less likely to end up in hospital for treatment.
“If you’re hesitant or just feel you haven’t had time to get your vaccinations, please make it a priority so you and your friends and family can enjoy the summer and look forward to holidays whether at home or abroad.”
In Coventry last week 1300 people were diagnosed with Covid in just seven days, compared to the same week in June when only 50 cases were seen. In Warwickshire more than 2000 people were confirmed as having Covid, compared to 120 cases for a seven day period just one month ago.
Vaccinations are available at more than 30 locations across Coventry and Warwickshire, including GPs, pharmacies, hospitals and clinics delivered in community and commercial spaces such as hotels. Some offer a walk-in service, others can be booked through a local number and others need to be booked via the National Booking System. In addition, many short-term pop-up clinics are arranged for which you do not need an appointment and can drop by at a time convenient for you.

Local clinics include two large vaccination centres, at Stoneleigh and University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust, two hospital hubs at Warwick Hospital and George Eliot Hospital and a number of pharmacies across Coventry and Warwickshire, offering people aged 18 and over their vaccinations.
Appointments need to be booked through the national booking system, which can be reached at: www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination. If you cannot use the website, you can phone 119 free of charge, 7am to 11pm, 7 days a week. You can ask someone else to do this for you and interpreters are available on request or you can use text phone 18001 119 or the NHS British Sign Language interpreter service at www.interpreternow.co.uk/nhs119
In addition, local GPs have grouped together into networks to make sure all patients registered with a GP are invited to have their vaccination at the right time. They will contact you direct.

Local people are asked not to attend pre-booked appointments or walk-in clinics if they have any symptoms of Covid including a new continuous cough, a high temperature (above 37.8) or a loss or change to your sense of taste or smell.
