COVENTRY & WARWICKSHIRE ICS CELEBRATES DOUBLE SHORTLISTING FOR PRESTIGIOUS HSJ AWARDS

Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care System (ICS) is delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted for two HSJ Awards, highlighting our commitment to transforming healthcare in our communities.

We are honoured to be recognised in the categories of ‘Integrated Care Initiative of the Year’ and ‘Reducing Inequalities and Improving Outcomes for Children and Young People.’ These nominations highlight the progress we have made to deliver better health outcomes across Coventry and Warwickshire.

The ‘Integrated Care Initiative of the Year’ Award celebrates Integrated Care Systems that exemplify true collaboration across various organisations within the system. Our submission highlighted our proactive efforts across all strategic priorities, showcasing our commitment to improving health outcomes and system resilience. Key case studies included initiatives to enhance patient pathways and trust in healthcare, and workforce development programs that are strengthening our local communities.

Being shortlisted for this award is a testament to our integrated approach, which has led to strong performance across national targets, including successes in planned care waiting times, diagnostic efficiency, and workforce growth, underscoring our system’s capability to deliver meaningful results.

Equally exciting is our shortlisting for the ‘Reducing Inequalities and Improving Outcomes for Children and Young People’ Award. This category recognises projects that deliver measurable improvements in access, experience, and outcomes for children, young people, and families. We are proud that our Trauma Informed Vanguard Project: Positive Directions has been recognised for its pioneering work in supporting vulnerable children and young people who have experienced significant trauma. This project is making a profound impact through targeted training for professionals, a ground-breaking Youth Worker program, and a social prescribing platform. You can find out more about Positive Directions here.

The HSJ Awards, held annually for over 40 years, are a hallmark of excellence in healthcare, with over 1,350 entries this year. To be among the 234 projects and individuals shortlisted is a tremendous achievement. We now look forward to presenting our work to the judging panel, with winners set to be announced at the awards ceremony on Thursday, November 21st, in London.

Phil Johns, Chief Executive, Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board said:

“We are incredibly proud to have been shortlisted for two HSJ Awards this year. The dedication and innovation across our system is truly inspiring, and it’s fantastic to see our efforts recognised on a national platform. Since becoming an ICS, we’ve worked tirelessly to enhance our services, and these nominations reflect the progress we’ve made together.

The strong relationships we’ve built with local health and care providers, the voluntary sector, and other related services have allowed us to innovate and collaborate in ways that benefit our communities.”

Lyn Ranson, Clinical Consultant Lead West Midlands Trauma Vanguard at NHS Coventry and Warwickshire ICB, said:

“To be shortlisted for the Reducing Inequalities and Improving Outcomes for Children and Young People Award is an incredible honour. Since we launched the trauma-informed vanguard project in August 2021, we’ve focused on truly understanding and meeting the needs of young people. The impact on some of our most vulnerable children and young people has been profound, and I’m thrilled that our work has been acknowledged in this way”.
