Coventry and Warwickshire Nurses and midwives to celebrate international Nurses' Day and International Day of the Midwife

Past, present and future nurses in Coventry and Warwickshire will be celebrated in spectacular style this week.
On Friday, May 10, hundreds of unsung heroes are coming together for the fourth annual International Nurses’ Day and International Day of the Midwife celebration.
The event consists of a procession through Coventry city centre leading into a ceremony at Coventry Cathedral.
Inspirational speakers – including Yana Richens, Deputy Head of Maternity at NHS England – will be sharing their experiences on the day.
Nina Morgan, who is the Chief Nursing Officer at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, is Master of Ceremonies.
She said: “International Nurses’ Day and International Day of the Midwife offer a unique opportunity to recognise the commitment, skills and professional knowledge that nurses and midwives demonstrate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
“Nurses and Midwives are vital in helping the NHS to meet the health and wellbeing needs of our patients today and well into the future.
“Nurses and Midwives come to work every day to make a difference and ensure patients have the best possible experience. We are proud of their incredible efforts to provide expert, compassionate care. This is the perfect way to say thank you.”
The event will be attended by nurses and midwives from Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust, George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust, University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust and student nurses and midwives from Coventry University. The event is also supported by NHS Coventry and Rugby ICB and NHS Warwickshire North ICB.
