WARWICKSHIRE NORTH'S FIRST PERMANENT COVID-19 TEST CENTRE OPENS

Warwickshire North's first permanent Covid-19 test centre has opened today in Bedworth.

The new Covid-19 walk-in centre has opened in the Civic Hall in Bedworth town centre.

Warwickshire County Council has confirmed that it will be open every day - but appointments have to be booked.

"Anyone displaying symptoms of coronavirus is required to book a test, which can be done online at gov.uk/coronavirus, via the NHS COVID app or by calling 119," the Shire Hall spokesperson said.

"You cannot attend a test without prior booking."

There have been plans for the borough to have its own permanent testing centres for several months.

The Civic Hall, which has been closed since the first lockdown, was chosen as the venue for Bedworth.

The location for a permanent site for Nuneaton has still yet to be decided.

Initially, it was proposed that the Gala Field car park off Avenue Road could be a possible location for a permanent site, but no definite location has been identified.
