1 MILLION COVID-19 VACCINATIONS DELIVERED IN COVENTRY & WARWICKSHIRE

Over 1 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in Coventry and Warwickshire by GP Local Vaccination Sites.

Throughout the pandemic, hundreds of people have come together to set up and manage a vast number of sites to ensure our population has access to the vaccine.

Doctors and nurses (mainly from general practices), volunteer vaccinators, site managers and the army of volunteers who have supported vaccination clinics by registering patients, car park marshalling and acting as stewards, have worked side-by-side to deliver close to 1.5 million vaccinations in our area.

This milestone figure comes as the NHS enters the next phase of the vaccination programme – the Covid-19 booster.

The booster vaccine is offered at least six months after a second dose. Protection from the vaccine starts to drop over time and so everyone who had their second dose over six months should now book their booster jab to ensure maximum immunity.
If you are contacted by your GP to book your booster, please do as soon as you can.

Dr Sarah Raistrick, Clinical Chair of Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board, said: “We are now delivering boosters alongside the ‘evergreen’ offer of first and second doses as the vaccination programme enters phase three. It’s vital to get your booster when you are eligible – six months after your second dose – to boost your immunity this winter and help the NHS.

“We still have a way to go as we adapt to developing situations and changing requirements, but together we can work our way out of the pandemic.”
