Who is using the community rehabilitation beds?
We’ve looked back over the past six years to understand who is currently using our community rehabilitation beds to make sure that the people who can get to them easily are able to do so. We looked at both wards separately as well as together, so we can understand if where the wards are situated makes a difference.
We found that the majority of people in both wards generally come from either Cubbington, Lillington and Warwick District East, Leamington Whitnash and Bishop’s Tachbrook, Kenilworth or Stratford-Upon-Avon. This has remained consistent, even when the beds were located at the Ellen Badger hospital site. Our data shows that demand is rising primarily in Cubbington, Lillington and Warwick District East, Leamington Whitnash and Bishop’s Tachbrook, and Wellesbourne and Kineton.
When reviewing the use of community rehabilitation beds, we found no negative effects on patient recovery after temporarily moving them to Campion Ward, Leamington. We’ve ensured that patients needing these beds during busy times can still access the right care and emergency support quickly.
